Speaking Up, Building Bravery, and Collectively Healing with Belle Lockerby

Belle Lockerby realized she needed a new approach to overcoming her trauma, so she began working out her bravery muscles. And she wrote a book about it so we can all leverage her (humorous and honest!) approach to “adversity wedgies.”

In this episode, Belle and I talk about:

  • how silence stalls our journeys towards healing and the conversations we need to have

  • consciously parenting within our patriarchal society, and the realizations prompted by our kids

  • fallacies about bravery, confronting fear, and building your bravery muscles

  • how generational trauma morphs as it’s passed down, as culture evolves

  • the importance of allowing ourselves to express sadness and anger, and how to model this for our children

  • how to be vulnerable and treat those who are not at the same point in the healing timeline that we are

  • knowing our triggers and acknowledging them when they come up

  • giving ourselves permission to be our authentic selves and a childlike approach to life

  • tips for approaching your bravery journey: finding supportive partners, making a list of things that scare you, and taking the first steps
